EHST members are invited to work together
in small groups to discuss ideas and suggestions made by members
to enhance EHST's future programs, platforms, and discussion
Sundays. We
will evaluate these suggestions posted in a recent survey the
Growth & Development Committee distributed to members. and cast
our
votes
for each item in that survey according to priority. Please review
the survey and bring it with you
to this meeting. There is room for additional ideas that may
have come up upon further
reflection. Please review the form and bring it with you to
this meeting. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to
prioritize
each suggestion and return the form to us by e-mail before
May 22.
The Growth and Development Committee hopes to present your suggestions
to the Board in August for their consideration.

May 29 | Alternate Discussion Group

This Sunday’s meeting will have a different
format as we explore the concept of forming a community group.
In this exercise we will form small (6-8) groups of people
as we model the structure of this type of meeting.
The purpose of a community group is to build strong relationships
within the larger society in a way that is not possible in the
larger group. These meetings are usually held once or twice a
month, apart from the regular Sunday meeting. Each group determines
its own ground rules within a loosely established framework.
Within the group people share their stories, support each other,
and relate to the larger world. The content of discussion is
determined by the group, although this exercise will be more
directed. Each person is invited to share something of significance
in the current moment through a check-in. Each has a chance to
express opinions and feelings within the general discussion.
There will be readings that relate to and enhance the chosen
topic.

May 30th – Memorial
Day Commemoration

Orange County Peace Coalition is sponsoring the annual Memorial
Day Commemoration on May 30th at 2pm in Carrboro Town Commons
(site of the Farmer’s Market.) This event is dedicated
to the victims of war and has a program of music and readings
in acknowledgement of those who have died as a result of our
involvement in conflicts around the world. The main speaker will
be David Caldwell, Jr., Project Director for the Rodgers Eubanks
Neighborhood Association and a community activist. EHST has long
participated in this ceremony as a member of OCPC
